Business News Publishing Co. was founded in 1926 by Francis M. Cockrell. Francis was involved with the Society for Electrical Development and on September 11, 1926, first published Electric Refrigeration News which went on to evolve into The Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration NEWS. It was created to help recognize the importance of the expanding electric refrigeration market, which would also help perpetuate the use of electricity. Headquartered on Fifth Avenue in New York City, the company also had an office in Detroit.
